From 14 to 21 January 2019, water levels along the lower Mekong River from Thailand’s Chiang Saen to Lao PDR’s Luang Prabang will be fluctuating above their long-term averages (LTAs) and may even reach their maximum levels. From Lao PDR’s Vientiane to Thailand’s Khong Chiam, water levels will also be fluctuating above their LTAs. It was observed that last week water levels were raised above their historical maximum levels from Thailand’s Chiang Sean to Nakhon Phanom. The lower reaches from Cambodia’s Kompong Cham to Viet Nam’s Tan Chau on the Mekong River and Chau Doc on the Bassac River will experience a drop below their LTAs, much like last week.
