best-false-eyelash-glueFalse eyelashes exist in a variety of shapes, lengths, and styles. Our professional makeup artists use them to enhance all kinds of makeup looks, and having good false eyelashes glue is just as important as the false lashes itself. Today our makeup artists tell you which brand we think has the best false eyelash glue, and why it’s the number one choice when it comes to getting our bridal clients ready on their wedding day.

Duo’s Brush On Lash Adhesive (available at Sephora, $9) is our go-to glue for false lashes application. Unlike other adhesives, this one is latex-free which is great for our clients who have sensitivities or allergies to latex-based products. This glue comes with a brush applicator which provides for a mess-proof application. It’s also enriched with vitamins A, C, and E; and it’s safe for contact lens wearers. We have tested many different brands of false lash glues, and found that this one offers a more water-resistant wear which means it’s perfect for our bridal clients who tend to get a little (or a lot) teary on their wedding day.

To apply strip lashes using this glue, our artists first brush a generous amount of the glue onto the lashes. Then, we gently place the lashes onto our client’s eyelid while the glue is still slightly wet to allow for adjustment and customization to the client’s eye shape. Once the glue sets, it dries to a completely clear finish.

To apply individual lashes using this glue, our artists use tweezers to dip the base of the individual lash into the applicator brush. Then we place the lash base onto the our client’s lash line, and give the glue time to dry before moving onto other parts of the makeup application process.

When it comes time to remove false lashes, this glue is easily dissolved with makeup removers such as Dermalogica’s Soothing Eye Makeup Remover (available at Ulta, $24). Keep in mind, this glue is meant to be removed before you go to sleep; this is not meant for lash extensions (which can last 3-6 weeks) but rather for use with lashes that you plan to remove at the end of the night.

Besides being a sweet addition to your tea, honey can be also be used to pamper your skin and hair. It is said that Queen Cleopatra’s beauty routine included bathing in milk and honey in order to keep her skin gentle and soft. Try having an at-home spa day by adding a DIY honey mask to your skin and hair care this summer. We suggest using organic Manuka Honey, which can be purchased at your local Wholefoods Market or online at (805) 987-9120.

To avoid allergic reactions, always patch test the recipes on unbroken skin first.

For Beautiful Skin

Moisturizing Face Mask
1 teaspoon honey + 1 teaspoon coconut oil + 1/4 ripe avocado
Mash or blend the avocado first, then add in honey and coconut oil and mix thoroughly. Apply to face with clean fingers, and leave on for about 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Use this mask once a week to help treat dry skin.

Acne Face Mask
1 tablespoon honey + 3/4 tablespoon fresh lemon juice + 1 tablespoon ground oats
First grind the oats in a spice grinder or blender. Pour the ground oats into a bowl, then add in honey and lemon juice. Mix well and apply to your face, leaving the mask on for 10 to 15 minutes. The anti-inflammatory properties in oats and anti-bacterial properties in lemon help fight blackheads and acne, making it the perfect natural anti-acne mask.

Exfoliating Face Scrub
2 tablespoons honey + 1/2 cup brown sugar + 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl, and gently massage the mixture onto your face in small circular motions. Rinse off the scrub with warm water, then finish by splashing your face with cold water to close your pores. Keep the extra scrub in an air-tight jar, and use once a week to help exfoliate skin and remove dead skin cells.

For Lustrous Hair

Repair & Restore Hair Mask
1 tablespoon honey + 2 tablespoons natural yogurt + 1/2 teaspoon coconut oilCombine all the ingredients in a bowl, then massage the mask into your hair from the scalp to the ends. Leave the mask on for 10 to 20 minutes, then wash your hair as you normally do. Use this treatment once a week to restore dry and damaged hair.

Easy Conditioning Hair Mask
Equal parts of honey + your normal conditioner
Mix the two ingredients together, then apply into your hair after shampooing. For best results, apply to hair that is damp and not dripping wet. Cover your hair with a shower cap or towel, and leave the mixture on for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. This mask will gradually take your hair from dull and lifeless to smooth and shiny.
